Anime Studio Manglobe Begins Bankruptcy Proceedings

Anime studio Manglobe formally began bankruptcy proceedings with the Tokyo District Court on November 4, 2015. 237 parties are claiming 544.5 million yen (about US$4.43 million) in debt from the studio. Manglobe had shut down on September 29, 2015 and filed for bankruptcy that same day. Animators reported not receiving their final paychecks from the studio.

Shinichiro Kobayashi and Takashi Kochiyama founded Manglobe in 2002. The studio produced such series as Samurai Champloo, The World God Only Knows franchise, Hayate the Combat Butler franchise, Michiko & Hatchin, Ergo Proxy, Samurai Flamenco, and Gangsta.. It also produced the animated sequences in the Sengoku Basara game. At the studio’s peak, it had over 1 billion yen (over US$8 million) in annual revenue.

Guitar Hero Live’s New Songs Include The White Stripes, Iggy Pop, And Evanescence

For those addicted to Guitar Hero Live’s TV Mode, the new Premium Sets introduced this week have been announced. Premium Sets, which allow you to play select tracks before they are released to the general public a week later, are unlocked through either micro-transaction or completing select songs with qualifying scores. The following tracks are included in the Premium Sets this week:

“Rock Heroes”:

  • The White Stripes – “Seven Nation Army”
  • Iggy Pop – “Real Wild Child (Wild One)”
  • Leon Bridges – “Coming Home”

“Fresh For 2015”

‘Star Wars: Battlefront’ Live Action Trailer


Ahead of its launch next week, EA Games has released a live action trailer for Star Wars Battlefront. The trailer shows people literally being transported into the world of Star Wars Battlefront from wherever they are.

Star Wars Battlefront will be available next Thursday, November 19 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

The launch gameplay trailer for the game was released a couple of weeks ago.

Could Porn Be The Next Big Sports Sponsor?

Advertising during sporting events is about to take a fascinating turn, specifically in Italy’s Serie A. According to Corriere dello Sport, Pornhub (yes the adult website) has offered to sponsor a team for a year, all expenses paid. In exchange, Pornhub will (presumably) plaster their logo on the team’s jerseys and paraphernalia. Which, frankly, is a great deal for all parties involved.

This, of course, isn’t Pornhub’s first attempt advertising for a team. In 2014, the Rutherford Raiders were having trouble finding a sponsor. They jokingly slapped the Pornhub logo on the front of the jersey and went to town.
