A Statement on the Publication of Leaked Emails

Graphic Policy

Yesterday someone decided to forward an email thread off a private listserve I co-run to Rich Johnston, the head of a comic book site called The Bleeding Cool.

Johnston claims he ran the item because he is “giving people an insight into how the sausage is made”. Leaving aside the issues with that allusion I want to be clear on the impact of his actions and the action of the leaker.

This email list was founded in honor of a dear friend of many of ours who died far too young. Martin Bosworth. Martin was a comics geek and an activist and blogger around consumer issues and electronic privacy. EPIC even named an award in his memory.

That is the legacy that the leaker and Johnston have compromised by their actions.

The vast majority of people on the private, off the record listserve I’ve run are regular comics…

‘Batman V Superman’ Plot Synopsis Reveals More About Lex Luthor

UPROXX

We’re slowly learning more about Jessie Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. A fake business article about LexCorp revealed he’s Lex Luthor, Jr., the son of an East German émigré and a collector of meteorite crystals (Kryptonite is implied). The article hints at why Luthor distrusts Superman (his father “came from a country where the government, in the guise of protector, had absolute control over the citizens”). Then Eisenberg himself talked about how condescending towards Bruce Wayne his character is. Now a synopsis posted by a movie theater chain has revealed a bit more about Luthor’s plotline.

Odeon Cinemas, a theater chain in the UK, updated their site with a revealing official synopsis:

At long last, see Batman and Superman square off against each other in Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, an epic superhero showdown which will change both their lives forever.

Kelvin Gastelum, Neil Magny react to their new UFC Fight Night 78 headliner

[autotag]Neil Magny[/autotag] is stepping in on late notice to fight fellow welterweight [autotag]Kelvin Gastelum[/autotag], but don’t expect much in the way of trash-talk heading into the fight.

As the UFC announced on Tuesday, Magny (16-4 MMA, 9-3 UFC) accepted short-notice fill-in duties for Matt Brown (20-13 MMA, 13-7 UFC), who suffered an ankle injury, and now fights Gastelum (11-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) in this month’s UFC Fight Night 78 headliner.

The event takes place Nov. 21 at Monterrey Arena in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. The card airs on FOX Sports 1 following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass.

Magny, an honorable mention in the NOS Energy Drink MMA welterweight rankings, will fight for the fifth time in a calendar year – for the second straight year. And Gastelum seemed to be happier than anyone about Magny stepping in.

He’s a fighter who never loses, but is he tough enough to win her heart?

There was a time when I had everything–a wonderful family, a bright future. Love. But all that was taken away in a single night, torn from me like flesh from bone.
